Position Overview

Responsible for: 

  • the planning, and procurement of products from Hubbell affiliates and other third-party vendors. These products are subsequently resold to Hubbell Canada customers (distributors) or in some cases consumed in manufactured goods. 
  • maintaining the level of stock to meet preassigned inventory targets for our Customers participating in our Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) process.  
  • the centralized account management of our VMI process.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the sales, marketing & engineering teams, find & review opportunity to reduce costs from third party vendors for raw materials, finished goods, & services both domestically & internally.   Identifying vendors, price negotiations, & manage certification requirements through to vendor & sku setup in SAP.
  • Monitor & expedite, when necessary the delivery of parts in relation to the request promised delivery schedule
  • Review forecasts on a monthly basis & recommend changes to improve delivery performance
  • Control the level of stock to meet pre-assigned inventory targets participating in VMI
  • Handle customer complaints in a professional manner
  • Provide centralized account management to our VMI Trading partners – review stock mix recommendations, order points, order quantities, errors, exceptions, demand smoothing & overrides
  • Actively communicate issues and actions involving management of inventory and VMI process
  • Coordinate the review & launch VMI orders; review issues related to successful communication of PO Acknowledgements & Advanced Ship Notices
  • Develop VMI returns and coordinate reviews and approvals through a defined automated methodology.
  • Assist in product life cycle management and launches to manage inventory history data and order point/order quantity overrides.
  • Handle incoming requests relative to eCommerce Services, order changes, order cancellations, incorrect shipments, requests for proof of delivery, verification of shortages and invalid/discontinued/suggested replacement items.
  • Communicate with department supervisor and/or manager on problems and collaborate to solve problems.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in an analytical field (operations, business, etc.) – preferred -  from four-year college or university
  • 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; preferably in a distribution environment.
  • Must have strong SAP & Microsoft Office background
  • Strong understanding of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) - TrueCommerce
  • CAPIC/APIC Certification an asset
  • An understanding of electrical certification codes and standards
  • Strong negotiating skills with experience in leading negotiations with both domestic and foreign vendors.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Project Management: Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget; Manages project team activities.

Education

Bachelors Degree in Business or Other Technology
