Position Overview


The Global Payroll Operations Manager is responsible for supporting enterprise-wide payroll activities spanning multiple business, countries, and across multiple functions.  The Global Payroll Operations Manager role oversees the day-to-day management of the Mexico payroll operations including ownership of core payroll processes and procedures; managing service requests and reports; delivering and monitoring service level commitments, ensuring ongoing standardization, harmonization, lean, and cost-effective measures. Additionally, this role is responsible for supporting US and non-US payroll activities, including acquisitions and divestitures, assessing overall project risks and hurdles, reports wider issues; confirms deliverables are received, verified, reconciled, and delivered timely.


This role supports Hubbell’s various payroll systems (GlobalView, Streamline, GTI Revolution and others), working closely with the in-country teams as the primary point of contact for all payroll system support, access requests, vendor and cost management.  The Manager Global Payroll Operations supports the Director, Global Payroll in providing strategic direction; recommending/implementing best practices and business process improvements; developing training; mentoring payroll department staff; focused on internal resources, accuracy of payroll, compliance, analytics, performance metrics, controls, and customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Review and Approve system access requests for individuals, necessary to complete their business duties.
  • Oversee Centralized Reporting Process / Approval and Management of Report Catalog; avoiding duplication; and providing and training for best practice and use of existing, delivered reports.
  • Lead relationship with 3rd party providers re: system issues, enhancements, updates, and upgrades; managing the relationship between Hubbell and 3rd parties.
  • Responsible for ensuring systems, processes, procedures remain consistent, harmonized, and in compliance with country rules/regulations, and company policies
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a set of SLAs and metrics to monitor efficiency and effectiveness of payroll systems and team performance.
  • Oversee creation/delivery of training for HR, Finance, employees, or others (1:1, Tutorials); Developing QRGs on access and use of system based on role.
  • Ensure compliance with all audit requirements and internal control standards for supporting configuration maintenance, changes, and accurate documentation.
  • Ensure Confidentiality, Data Privacy, Data Security and SOX requirements are in place.
  • Review and approve procedures and documentation for Payroll Operations.
  • Work with third party vendors who provide information for Payroll processing.
  • Oversight of the Time and Attendance system; Time reporting and performing audits as needed.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate integration of Payroll for all newly acquired businesses.
  • Document payroll processes and controls to be used by global payroll teams to ensure compliance and process excellence. 
  • Conduct process improvement activities to increase accuracy, improve efficiency, and ensure appropriate controls.

Job Skills


  • Must be able to travel to all Hubbell Mexico Locations (Tijuana, Monterrey, Juarez, and Toluca); within US, Canada, and any other global locations as required.

  • Able to manage workplace relationships with various stakeholders; Proactive in resolving issues with employees, businesses and other departments. Experience working on cross- functional and cross-departmental teams to achieve common goals.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships including escalation of issues and holding vendors accountable to service level agreements while maintaining productive relationships.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible work hours to ensure payroll deadlines are met.

Preferred Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems or other related discipline preferred; or, equivalent combination of work experience and education.
  • Must be Bilingual, fluent in both Spanish and English, other languages a plus.
  • 5+ years utilizing and supporting payroll systems and all modules, ADP Streamline, GlobalView and/or GTI Revolution a plus.
  • 3+ years administering end-of year processing, including income tax, declarations, Christmas Bonus, Savings Fund, Social Security (IMSS), and other State, Regulatory or Compliance Requirements.
  • 5+ Demonstrated leadership experience managing full end-to-end decentralized Mexico payrolls and processes for more than 3000+ employees, with different benefit plans, tax programs and business requirements.
  • Experience with SAP/SuccessFactors HR (Employee Central) & Finance applications (preferred).
  • Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • End-to-end Payroll M&A Experience (Due Diligence, Scoping, and Integration, etc.)
  • 5+ years Hands-On ADP GlobalView, or SAP Payroll Integration Experience, including reporting, interface file management, and auditing .
