Position Overview

Hubbell Premise Wiring is looking for a Technical Support Specialist to join the team in a hybrid capacity in our office in either Mystic, CT, or Shelton, CT. This is a great opportunity focused primarily on technical product and applications support. The ideal candidate will have a technical mindset and be able to learn our products and build a strong understanding in order to resolve complex issues and communicate with both internal and external customers. This role collaborates across the organization with our Product Managers, Engineering Teams and Sales Teams. A team player with a customer mindset, strong organizational and problem-solving skills is a must for this role.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the efforts of the Tech Services Department to provide technical and applications support to all Premise customer and field/inside sales inquiries relative to products and their applications and the telecommunications industry standards.
  • Requires maintaining an expertise on Premise (self manufacture and PFR) as well industry products/applications/standards. In addition to this ongoing technical support; 
  • Qualify the nature of all technical calls and identify potential sales opportunities and key contacts to field sales.
  • Analyze and review OEM and special product requests to determine if Premise has or can modify/develop a product to meet the customer’s need.
  • Maintain and continue to update files on codes (UL/CSA), standards (TIA/EIA), federal specifications and key information relevant to product applications.
  • Prepare “spec text” for Division programs when required.
  • Conduct hands on product training for all Premise division new hires.
  • Assist with the cross referencing of competitive BOMs for price quotations and the development and maintenance of general competitive cross-reference files.
  • Assist Sales with the creation of the configured product SKU for quotation or order entry purposes.
  • Assist Product Management with their development of product information for catalogs, data sheets, product bulletins and webinars.
  • Coordinate responses for product technical specification and compliance requests.
  • Develop new and discontinued product notices for quarterly distribution to customer base and field sales.
  • Process warranty claims for payment and maintain central file for all claims.
  • Assist with sales and marketing projects as required.
  • Manage the response to all product quality complaints; trouble shoot initial call to determine applicable action, work with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Product Management departments towards complaint resolution/corrective action. Develop and issue formal response back to the customer.
  • Manage the Division’s IDEA data including active involvement in any issues and new requirements. Includes the responsibility for maintaining attribute data.
  • Manage the Master Data responsibilities for ECN tracking and the development and maintenance of division Basic Data, Sales Organization views and all standard and specialty Price Data.

Skills and Experience

  • Four- year degree in Telecommunications or ME, EE (or a related field), with Marketing orientation or a minimum of five years work experience in the industry.
  • RCDD certification is preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs including Word, Excel and Power Point is required.
  • Proficiency in SAP is preferred.
