Position Overview

The eCommerce Copy Writer will be responsible for writing detailed product / marketing copy for the Progress Lighting ecommerce data within established brand standards and in support of ecommerce strategies. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating intriguing copy to promote and sell our retail assortment, support key promotional campaigns, and other informational material while maintaining our brand identity and leveraging SEO best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write product-related copy for the web, including product titles, detailed descriptions, and enhanced product information
  • Improve the quality of product information across our ecommerce experience to aid our customers with their purchasing decisions
  • Research manufacturer websites to find the technical properties as well as the key selling features and benefits of products
  • Ensure brand consistency with compelling written content that strengthens and maintains our brand's voice and tone across the ecommerce platform
  • Assess own work as well as incorporate revisions; execute all corrections from team and review for brand guidelines and editorial quality assurance
  • Optimize our content for search engines by working with SEO Analysts & conducting keyword research
  • Gather, organize, and translate information into unique, persuasive & compelling language
  • Collaborate with product development managers and marketing to produce relevant content that meets the needs of both key stakeholders and our audience
  • Adhere to stringent deadlines to ensure smooth flow of projects; manage time and multiple projects efficiently to contribute to team goals

 

 

Skills and Experience

  • Must possess good communication and listening skills, excellent speaking, reading and writing.
  • Comprehend and use technical or professional language, either written or spoken, to communicate complex ideas.
  • Multiple language abilities a plus, fluency in English required.
  • A “can do” mentality – demonstrating a real passion for making things happen and for achieving stretch targets
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethics, ability to multi task and perform in a fast-paced environment is a must
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a copywriter working in a retail or agency environment
  • Retail/e-commerce experience and knowledge of SEO is required
  • Content management operations and/or online marketing concepts is a plus
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading ability, HTML experience a plus
  • Extreme attention to detail: style, copy & message
  • Strong knowledge of the English language: superb writing and verbal skills
  • Overall writing skills in a number of different styles/tones for digital channels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using a PIM system a benefit

Education

Bachelors Degree in Marketing or Public Relations
