Position Overview

 

The Inside Sales Representative will ensure prompt, courteous and efficient processing of customer inquiries related to orders, quotations, technical product support and systems support for all internal and external Hubbell customers.  The Representative will be responsible to provide both primary and secondary support for various functional areas within the department including (Technical Service, Customer Service, Value Add and Quotations).  In addition, the selected individual will be responsible for developing a working knowledge about the various aspects and secondary factors affecting customer service in order to support and proactively improve the department as a whole.  As the principal point of contact between TM, customers and the department, the Inside Sales Representative is recognized as performing a vital function in the chain of customer satisfaction and service improvement. 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Expand upon existing knowledge of the electrical industry, competitive market and the sales process to work as a team with field sales to ensure optimum service to each account. Enhance the TM effort by developing strong service ties with assigned customer base and providing feedback and follow-up on significant quotations, key contacts at distributors and end users, sales leads, potential problems, trends, competition, policy and product updates.
  • Handles incoming calls relative to taking inquiries, new orders, order changes, order cancellations, incorrect shipments, requests for proof of delivery, verification of shortages and invalid/discontinued/suggested replacement items.  Provide price and delivery as required.
  • Coordinate the information flow between TM and other departments to efficiently handle and respond to; customer orders, expedite requests, technical/product questions, quotations (new and renewal), return/credit requests, new customer applications, product modifications,  literature & sample requests, and general inquiries.
  • Review orders for accuracy and correct as needed, documenting changes for future reference. Promptly acknowledge all orders to customers highlighting corrections and lead times. Expedite orders, track production dates and trace shipments. Identify brand subs and other options to fulfill customer’s needs.
  • Maintain a strong technical understanding of all WD-K products and programs and how they relate to Industry standards in order to provide technical/product support.  
  • Handle incoming calls from TM relative to the quotation process.  Enter quotes into the online quote tool and facilitate the timely response to all requests for special discounted pricing with the goal of maximizing sales and profits.
  • Cross-reference competitive bills of material from TM for the purpose of converting job quotations and bids into new sales opportunities.
  • Create Submittals from Submittal builder tool for distributors and customers.
  • Assist RGA request from TM.  Request will include all PO and restocking fee information to have entered.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.  Assist in other functions, projects, etc. as required.

Skills and Experience

 

  • Four-year college degree preferred with a minimum of 2 years of customer service / sales support experience or High School diploma with a minimum of 10 years of related customer service, sales support, pricing and technical support experience within the electrical industry.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and strong analytical, organizational and multi-tasking skills. The candidate must be personable with strong knowledge of the Electrical industry, WD-K products, pricing, sales programs and strategies.
  • Solid communication skills and the ability to handle delicate situations with both internal and external customers.
  • SAP R/3 knowledge is required.
  • Must also have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • The individual in this position is an active contributor towards sales growth and profitability by providing optimum service to the WD-K customer base.
