Job Summary:

Set up and operate saws per print for customer orders in a timely manner for production purposes, while complying with current ISO requirements, all safety requirements, and good housekeeping standards.

 

A Day In The Life

Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. Set up and operate saws to achieve requirements of the print specifications, shop order, and inspection charts.
  2. Perform at a level to maintain production standards.
  3. May be required to work at any workstation to meet production requirements.
  4. Inspect product to assure continued conformance to specifications using calipers, tape measure and squares.
  5. When required, perform rework to nonconforming product.
  6. Complete all documentation associated with the operation.
  7. Maintain the workstation area in a clean and orderly condition.
  8. May be required to train any new employee assigned to the area.
  9. Perform other duties as directed by supervisors.
  10. Successfully complete:
    1. Safety Training
    2. Quality Training
    3. ISO Training
  11. Understand the saw’s operation and where it fits into the manufacturing process.
  12. Understand the importance of stopping the operation when a question or problem arises. When in doubt, DO NOT CONTINUE. ASK QUESTIONS.     
  13. Know how to perform daily maintenance duties and related documents.        
  14. Demonstrate how to start the machine.
  15. Identify the locations of emergency stops.         
  16. Identify the location of safety guards and their proper operation.        
  17. Identify machine cycles and understand the function of the control panel.      
  18. Demonstrate how to adjust rams and blades.    
  19. Demonstrate the proper adjustment of material stops and clamps.     
  20. Demonstrate how to use measuring tools, including calipers, angle gauge and tape measures, for this process.    
  21. Demonstrate how to load material into the machine.    
  22. Understand all quality requirements and how to complete all the associated paperwork.
  23. Know how to properly and safely stack parts.    
  24. Understand the routing of the product, especially the next operation.
  25. Demonstrate how to shut down machine.

Education and/or experience – High school diploma or GED preferred.  Employee must be able to perform basic reading, writing and mathematical functions.  

Language Skills – Ability to read and write.  Ability to read and comprehend instructions, memorandums and correspondence.  Ability to communicate effectively with others verbally and written.
