Position Overview:
The engineering intern will be reviewing how to perform cycle time studies for process realignment and improvements. They will compile reports to show results of improvements of increased or decreased production. Assist with any current projects by coordinating the planning and start up of any new equipment. Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant consistent with current ISO requirements, safety requirements, and good housekeeping standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods by applying sound engineering principles in fixture design, problem solving, and material selection.
- Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and product flow. Must apply Lean Manufacturing methods.
- Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
- Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential. Evaluate product lines and recommend changes in production methods, materials and product design to optimize throughput, quality and cost.
Skills and Experience:

Student must be enrolled in an accredited university working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business (e.g. Marketing, Business, Business Administration, Sales, International Business, or technical-related degree).

Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Ability to communicate effectively with others orally and in writing. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software, including ProE and AutoCad; Development software; Internet software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
