Position Overview

Provide support to the EHS Segment Director for the administration, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives, policies and procedures for business segment. Provides global oversight, and mentorship to operations and office leadership for each business segment. Supports the education, training, and rollout of updated policies and procedures. Implements initiatives, work practices and protocols to drive continuous improvement in EHS company-wide.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and auditing of EHS & Safety programs at sites in support of the EHS Segment Director
  • Provide leadership to Business Segment and site EHS Managers/Coordinators to identify best practices and foster their adoption in all operations.
  • Lead or support the implementation for EHS initiatives and standards.
  • Connect with EHS Segment Director, VP EHS and VPs of Operations to set safety and health goals and objectives, resolve issues and identify safety and health improvement opportunities for individual business units.
  • Work closely with EHS Segment Director and VP EHS to identify best practices and foster their adoption at all locations.
  • Implement and monitoring of strategic health and safety plans at sites to ensure due diligence and to maintain a safe and healthful work environment for employees, contractors, customer, and visitors.
  • Lead implementation of health and safety communications for the sites and support/manage the efficient distribution of communications within the sites.
  • Facilitate worker's compensation case management and return to work programs with Plant Management and Human Resources.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of current applicable legislation and provide support to the sites and Plant Management.
  • Drive behaviors which support "elite" health and safety culture. Communicate effectively with VP EHS, EHS Segment Director and VPs of Operations to identify systems, programs, and training needs for all operations.
  • Provide site operations with training, mentorship, and directions regarding compliance with all government regulatory agencies and corporate health and safety policies.
  • Support VPs of Operations and Operations Managers to ensure that all health and safety activities are staffed and carried out adequately.
  • Facilitate and support CAPEX projects on health and safety improvements.
  • Liaison with key contacts to share best practices for health and safety management.
  • Liaison with various regulatory agencies to establish good will and early warnings of emerging health and safety issues.
  • Ensure compliance of safety laws, regulations and Hubbell Policies and Procedures
  • Supervise federal and state agencies for regulatory changes and advise operations of same. Work with plant operations to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (Federal, Provincial, State, and Municipal).
  • Develop and maintain data management system to ensure that all relevant safety documentation and record keeping across sites are properly managed, available on request, archived, and updated on secured drives.
  • Coordinate site audit and inspection programs and ensure corrective actions are followed up on and completed.
  • Provide expertise for investigations of health and safety matters and incidents.
  • Drive the development of corrective actions and follow-up mechanisms and insure communication of relevant information to VP EHS, EHS Segment Director and VPs of Operations.
  • Timely and accurate conduct of health and safety audits and compliance with corporate policy.
  • Ensure site EHS Managers/Coordinators are evaluating safety risks associated w/ site processes
  • Work with site EHS Managers/Coordinators on closure of corrective actions of all H&S assessments
  • Work with operations and finance to evaluate H&S risks associated with facility/process changes
  • Support/coordinate/manage H&S actions related to facility consolidation and plant rationalization
  • Support/coordinate/manage plant equipment moves
  • Participate in due diligence efforts that are coordinated through VP EHS and EHS Segment Director as needed
  • Support site EHS Managers/Coordinators during integration of new acquisitions

Skills and Experience

  • 5-10 years safety leadership with increased responsibility
  • Experience leading EHS compliance & program implementation at multiple manufacturing sites globally
  • Strong mechanical and electrical safety knowledge
  • Background in manufacturing processes and associated equipment (heavy, light and assembly)
  • Solid understanding of machine guarding and applications
  • Experience managing safety for field service employees
  • Proven and balanced KPI performance and demonstrated project management knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of safety legislation and regulations at federal, state, provincial and local level
  • Strong knowledge EPA, OSHA, and Worker's Compensation claims management
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college
  • Certifications in Safety Compliance
