Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The Hubbell Internship Program is a 10-week program providing students the opportunity to gain corporate experience, learn about all aspects of our business, and prepare students with the kind of experience needed to have a rewarding career at Hubbell.

The Engineering and Marketing Intern position offers a variety of opportunities including basic engineering and/or marketing tasks related to design, analysis, test, integration and systems engineering and/or sales, applications or marketing activities. Opportunities can vary from working in Application Tooling, Utility, Lean Manufacturing, Research & Development lab, New Product Development, Application Engineering, Marketing, Supply Chain, continuous improvement or more. Internships may require travel to suppliers, customers or other Hubbell locations.

Interns will typically support one or more experienced employees in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as the day-to-day operations of the assigned department. Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which will help them build a strong network within the Hubbell community.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gained knowledge of the industry as it pertains to the Hubbell business location
  • Experience in planning and organizational skills
  • Engineering research and technical assistance to engineers
  • Review current program activities to make recommendations for changes/improvement opportunities
  • Perform tests to assure quality control
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Detailed roles and responsibilities will be outlined dependent on business Group, location and the project outlined

Skills and Experience

  • Student must be 18 years of age by the start of the internship assignment
  • Student must be enrolled in an accredited university working towards a[n Associate], Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering or Business
  • Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. To complete your application and be considered, you must submit your unofficial transcript
  • Strong computer skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is desired, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Accuracy, thoroughness and timeliness
  • Ability to provide support and assistance to co-workers as appropriate
