Position Overview

We are seeking a Product Owner to work within our development teams. This role is responsible for owning the backlog for one or more Agile teams, within the context of a larger program backlog. This role is responsible for helping define the acceptance criteria for stories and ordering them to provide the most value in the shortest time.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Exhibit Lean-Agile leadership, helping teams to embrace Lean-Agile values and principles and implement Scrum and SAFe practices.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to describe and refine program features so they can be delivered by the Agile teams.
  • Manage the team backlog and guide the team with respect to priorities and scope.
  • Coordinate with other teams as a representative in the program-level sync meetings and other activities.
  • Participate in Program Increment Planning, including drafting team objectives, defining stories with the team, and providing clarification to assist with estimates and sequencing.
  • Review and accept completed backlog items as ‘Done’.
  • Understand enabler work that help drive technological decisions and implementation.
  • Help track team risks and dependencies with other teams' Product Owners.

Skills and Experience

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience product development experience 
  • 3+ years experience as a content authority for a software development team
  • 1+ years experience working with Agile software development teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related technology field, or equivalent work experience
  • Existing certification as a Product Owner from an accepted certification body (e.g. CSPO, PSPO, POPM)
  • Thorough understanding of Lean-Agile values, principles, and practices.
  • Proficient with Agile methods such as story sizing, backlog management, story mapping, etc.
  • Experience with Agile Lifecycle Management tools such as JIRA, CA Agile (Rally), VersionOne, or AgileCraft
  • Excellent communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience using Agile methodologies
  • Experience working within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®)
  • Experience with complex systems development, including hardware/firmware
  • Experience with continuous integration and release management 


Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Engineering General
